Being a Filipina, one of our struggles in maintaing a fresh-looking face is the right choice of foundation. There are some that promise a smooth and clear finish, and there are also those that claim to stay long in the face. While these ideas may seem to be true for some, there are also that does not truly live its promise and often leads to heavy and fully made-up face.

As I look for something that is cost effective, I found the E.L.F. Moisturizing Foundation Stick for only Php 404 because they were on sale at Tri Noma that time; regular price is Php 450. Well for those who don’t know what E.L.F. means, then it is, eyes, lips, face. 🙂

I am not a fan of foundation as most of it looks so heavy and cakey when applied so I prefer using BB cream for a softer finish and coverage, but this one has changed my perception of foundation. It somehow made me trust that a good foundation is all I need to achieve a clear fine and smooth finished face.

I was just looking for a concealer to cover my dark circles until the saleslady made me try it and I was really amazed because the scar I got on my hand was covered and it is really easy to blend. I love the idea of using my fingertips to apply it because I can feel the texture really well and it is very smooth with a powder finish yet also moisturizing. By the way, the box of it is missing, not sure where I put it, but according to it, the foundation contains fruit extracts to keep skin moist and glowing. Well, for me that is true because at mid of the day, my face becomes dewy but not too oily so I don’t have to apply face powder whenever I use it. Just avoid applying on dry areas of your face too much because it will settle there. My technique to avoid that is to pat it with a tissue moist with water.

For the shade, initially what I really chose was the nude one since it has the lightest shade; next to it is the natural and beige but the nude was not available that time so I chose the closer one which was the natural. This shade gives my face a fair healthy glow (not too light, and not too dark), just a very little pinkish touch but it doesn’t bother me since it is really easy to blend with a medium to full coverage so I only apply a thin layer and it looks really like my skin. Also it seems that it has a primer because it can minimize the appearance of pores making it look flawless and smooth. It can also cover redness and dark circles really well so two thumbs up for it.

The only thing I wish it improvement is the part where I need to twist and push so the stick will advance. It is not like the usual stick foundation where you twist the bottom and the content advances. With this one, you still have to push up to expose it from the container and sometimes, the cap tends to compress the foundation, leaving it some marks and mess if you do not pull it back enough.

The scent, well, it smells like a true cosmetics… And I don’t like it. Not really good scent. The packaging is good, it is handy and space saver except that the twister at the bottom needs to be improved.

All in all, I am impressed with its quality and effect on my skin. So far, I did not have breakouts and / or any skin irritation while I use it. I give it a 4.6 / 5 rating and would advice you to try it too if you are looking for best foundation.
