“Perfume is the only fashion sense that never gets out of style.”
Perfume is an accessory where one can incorporate his or her personality and also some memories like you remember your mom when you are young with that particular fragrance or the first time you dated someone when you were a teen. Long ago, it has been used by people for rituals like the Egyptians but nowadays, it is used when people would go to events, or just a simple day-to-day activities such as work as it can help you feel good in a way that when you smell pleasant, good vibes and impression also begin to come up like, “Oh that guy /girl smells really nice.. kinda sexy.”
Above anything else, the main goal is to add an appeal on yourself so you might as well want to learn how to properly wear it. Yes, you heard it right, PROPERLY.
Choose the right perfume according to the season or weather- In order for the perfume to function to its fullest, one must know when to wear it. During warm and summer time, it is advised to use cool fragrances such as citrus and fresh scents- Perfumes with notes of tangerine, lemon, green tea, geranium, vetiver. During winter, we want to keep warm and feel the comfort of rich floral oriental notes such as vanilla, cashmere, sandalwood, patchouli and musk. Some people also choose according to the event they are going. For glamorous events, usually floral oriental and woodsy fragrances take the lead and for outdoor activities, the light and playful scents are really nice to wear.
Apply perfume on the right areas- Usually on the pulse points (neck / neckline, inner part of the elbow, wrist, back of the knee, and some near the bikini) to make the fragrance richer due to the heat in those areas. As some of perfumes may stain clothes, it is not that advisable to spray it there but if you really want to do it just because it stays longer on clothes than on skin, be sure to spray it first on your skin and then spread it on your clothes, to see it if has pigments that can stain.
Do not apply it on the armpit- Oh my gosh, you don’t want your sweaty underarm scent to mix with your signature perfume unless you really want to make a trademark of very unusual fragrance. Though it produces heat that can make the fragrance rich, still it is not the proper area where you should put fragrance. Just use a deodorant to help you stay fresh.
Use it in moderation- If your purpose on wearing perfume is to be attractive for the opposite sex, then you must really learn on how to use it to increase your charm. Don’t spray that much. A perfume with a moderate sillage (up to an arm distance) that has a good projection is the one that is best for it. If you use perfumes with enormous sillage, just apply a little amount of it to avoid being cloying. You don’t want a perfume that kicks like a horse from a far distance.
Determine which perfume is suitable as your signature scent- As mentioned above, you can choose perfumes according to seasons or events but there is an exception to it. As far as memory is concerned, you must choose a perfume that really defines your personality, something that is unique to your character and cannot just be smelled with anyone else. If possible, choose the one that is not usually worn by the people around you, so that even if some may also wear it, atleast in your close circle, you are the only one who has it. Or if you really want, try niche or artisanal perfumes and ask if they can decant a small sample for you so you can test it first.
